Heberling Associates, Inc. was the winner of the prestigious 2006 Federal Highway Administration/Pennsylvania Division Transportation and Historic Preservation Excellence Award in recognition of the company’s Phase III archaeological data recovery studies at Site 36JU104 completed in connection with the U.S. Route 22 Lewistown Narrows highway improvement project.
The award was presented to Dr. Paul A. Raber, Director of Archaeological Services for Heberling Associates, Inc., PennDOT District 2-0, and the EADS Group, Inc. at the Seventh Annual Byways to the Past Conference at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on May 18, 2006.
As a Pennsylvania Division winner, the Lewistown Narrows project was also nominated for a 2007 National Environmental Excellence Award that recognizes the best environmental stewardship projects in the nation.
